Pinal County Marriage Record Copies
The clerk provides certified copies of marriage records on file. A certified copy costs $35 for an abstract. This is the standard document most people need. It shows both names, the date of marriage, and when the license was recorded. If you just need a plain photocopy, the fee drops to $0.50 per page. The Pinal County copies page explains your options.
To get a copy, you need the names of both spouses. The bride's maiden name helps if you have it. The date of marriage narrows the search. If you know at least the year, staff can find your record quickly. Without the year, they charge an extra $35 research fee to search the files. Pinal County has marriage records from 1875 to today. That is over 150 years of records to search through.
You can come to the Florence office and search the records yourself at no charge. The clerk sets up terminals for public research. This free option works well if you want to dig through old records for family history. Bring a notebook or phone to take notes on what you find.

Send a check or money order for $35 payable to Clerk of Superior Court. Add $8 for shipping and handling. The total comes to $43 for a mailed certified copy. If you do not know the year of marriage, include an extra $35 for the research fee. That brings the total to $78. The records request page has more details on what to include.
Mail your request to the Florence office at PO Box 2730, Florence, AZ 85132. Processing takes about one to two weeks. Busy times may take longer. Call 888-431-1311 or local 520-509-3555 to check on your request.
The form shows what information you need to provide. Fill it out completely to avoid delays in processing your request.
Note: Staff cannot search without at least an approximate year of marriage unless you pay the research fee.
Who Can Perform Marriages in Pinal County
Arizona law lists several types of people who can officiate weddings. A.R.S. 25-124 covers who is authorized. Licensed clergy can marry couples. Judges from the Superior Court, Court of Appeals, or Supreme Court can too. Justices of the peace work for many ceremonies. Municipal court judges also have authority to perform weddings.
Arizona allows notaries public to officiate marriages. The notary must be commissioned in Arizona. This gives couples more options for who performs their ceremony. It is a unique feature of Arizona law that other states do not always share.
After the ceremony, the officiant must return the signed license to the Pinal County Clerk. A.R.S. 25-123 requires this within 30 days. The clerk then records the marriage. Failure to return the license on time creates problems later when the couple needs proof of marriage.
Age Rules for Pinal County Marriage Licenses
The legal age to marry without parental consent is 18. If you are 16 or 17, you can get a marriage license with written consent from a parent or guardian. There is a catch though. The person you marry cannot be more than three years older than you. This rule protects young people from bad situations.
Since August 2018, Arizona does not allow anyone under 16 to marry at all. This came from changes to state law aimed at stopping child marriage. If a minor aged 16 or 17 wants to marry, they need to bring a parent or guardian to the clerk office. The parent signs a consent form in front of staff. The minor also needs their birth certificate showing their age.
Are Pinal County Marriage Records Public
Yes, marriage records are public in Arizona. A.R.S. 39-121 says public records must be open for inspection during office hours. Marriage licenses filed with the Pinal County Clerk fall under this rule. Anyone can request a copy. You do not need to be one of the people who got married. You do not need to explain why you want the record.
Social Security numbers stay confidential. The clerk does not release those. But names, dates, and other basic information are available to the public. This makes marriage records useful for background checks, genealogy, and legal matters where you need to prove a marriage happened.
A.R.S. 25-130 allows the clerk to issue an abstract of marriage instead of a full copy. The abstract includes both names, the date of marriage, and the recording date. Most people find the abstract meets their needs. It costs less than a full reproduction of the original license.
